My name is Tuva and I am a licensed clinical psychologist from Norway, living in upstate New York.
My curiosity for life, existence and the human experience is what initially lead me to study psychology. During my 6 years at university I perceived certain limitations of traditional talk therapy and I started exploring other modalities of healing, with the intention of gathering the tools and experiences to offer a holistic approach to therapy, which to me means inviting and including the body, the nervous system, the emotions, the mind and the spirit into the therapy room.
I therefore embarked on a journey of discovery, deepening my own practices of yoga along with different somatic practices, voice and sound therapy, shamanism and plant medicine. I spent 7 years studying, working and living between the volcanic highlands of Guatemala, the beaches of Costa Rica and the Amazon jungle of Peru, learning from different indigenous wisdom keepers, teachers, elders and healers as I served as a facilitator at renowned retreat centers across Latin and South America.
